Houston grew up in Henrietta Texas, where he worked on a large ranch while attending high school. After graduating he went to Tarleton State before going on to work on ranches in both central and west Texas. Eventually, he started ranching his own cattle and making a home in Leon county. He is currently an agent for Henson Land and Ranch located in Centerville Texas.
